It was also an easy day for Team British-Columbia who won both of their ties; 5-0 against Prince Edward Island and also against Saskatchewan. Team BC is really looking forward to Thursday where they will meet Team Ontario who is seeded number 4 in this competition. Manager Lindsay Thompson said: `'Ontario has a strong team, especially the girls, but we believe we can win this and move forward to the final. Our goal is to bring the gold medal home.''

Team Ontario also won their ties against Nunavut (5-0)and North West Territories (5-0) to finish in first place in pool D.

Saskatchewan had to count on two of their experienced players, Ben Harack and Shane Dirk, that participated in the last Canada Winter Games in 2003. Along with their green outfits and hats, Saskatechewan over came Prince Edward Island. Manager Laurie said : ''This tie was critical for us. We really needed to win if we wanted to have a chance to fight for the fifth or sixth position.''

Rosanna Crawford and Tyson Smith took home their second wins of these Games in biathlon despite each having 6 penalties on the shooting range. Both were the fastest skiers of the day and with the addition of the shooting penalties were able to stay ahead of the next competitors.

Memorable Moment of the Day
|
Ryan Knight (Whitehorse, Yukon) is a 19 year old who has competed in 3 Canada Games including summer and winter. He competed at 2003 Games in Biathlon, in 2005 for Cycling and in 2007 for Biathlon. He has also competed in 3 Arctic Winter Games for the sports of biathlon and speedskating. Ryan finished 25th in the Sprint Competition.
Family of biathletes Maxime Leboeuf and sister Audrey Vaillancourt are competing as members of the Quebec team this week. Their older brother Francois Leboeuf also competes in the sport and represented Quebec in the 2003 Canada Winter Games. Maxime finished 3rd in Monday's Sprint competition and 2nd in today's Inidividual competition while Audrey finished a respectable 7th place (1 shooting penalty) in the women's Sprint competition and 5th in today's Individual competition as one of the best female shooters of the day.

|
Team BC controlled the beginning ends of the game taking a 5-2 lead half way through the game. Team NS had a missed opportunity in the 5th end to tie the game. On the final rock, Team NS over curled a tap for 2 leaving BC lieing 1. Team NS rallied back in the last half of the game and found themselves 1 point down in the 10th end. Needing to steal, Team NS tried to draw a rock around a couple of guards. Failing to curl, the rock was left in the open and the BC played an open take out to win the game.

Team NB won by a score of 7-6.

This was a heart-stopper for both teams involved, including the fans, coaches and, of course, players. Braden Adamyk scored the game-tying goal for Manitoba with 23 seconds left and then, in overtime, Shayne Wiebe became the hero as he scored to give Manitoba a 7-6 win. This was the first major upset in the men's hockey tournament at the Canada Winter Games.

Another quarterfinal at Canada Games Centre and another great hockey game. Saskatchewan was down 4-3 late in the third period until Chad Suer's point shot beat Team B.C. goaltender Martin Jones with 25 seconds to play, sending the green fans into a frenzy and the game into overtime.
Thomas Frazee will remember this game for a long time. The B.C. forward sent a backhander at the net and it somehow squeezed through the pads of Saskatchewan goaltender Jeffrey Bosch to give B.C. the overtime win.
'This is the one right here,' Frazee said when asked where this game ranks. 'This is the one to take us to to the medal round. It's awesome. I'm still in shock.'

It's semifinal day at the Canada Winter Games. Top-ranked Alberta faces off against Manitoba and Ontario meets B.C., with the winners playing for gold and the losers for bronze on Friday. Alberta was a favourite coming into the event but Manitoba showed on Tuesday night that its grit could carry it to the final. Ontario and B.C., meanwhile, could be an offensive explosion, as both clubs are strong up front.
The four teams in the middle of the pack - Quebec, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick - will look to finish as high as fifth as relegation round games continue.
One of the bottom four teams - Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Yukon and Northwest Territories - can still finish as high as ninth.

Andre-Pierre Bosse of New Brunswick won a bronze in the under 66Kg division. His twin brother Rene-Pierre won a bronze in the under 73Kg division. Judo runs in the family as their father, Bertin, is a 6th degree black belt.

Kayla Krentz (Steinbach) and Chrisie Leiman (Stonewall) assisted on the goal. Final score was 5-4.

|
After winning the gold in the women's 1500m, Madeline Martin (ON) beat her nearest competitor by just over 12 seconds. Powering through the wind she felt that it was one of the toughest races that she has ever done. ' There's a really big wind out there.' Her performance nearly set a new Canada Games record. She missed it by 1.14 seconds.
Andrea Johnson (MB)won her very first medal of the games. After winning the silver she said, 'That was like the best race of my life. I'm so happy'. With her dad watching the race he could only say that he was very excited for her. 'She worked very, very hard'.

With his second bronze medal in hand, Kyle Gendron (MB)stated that you had to keep positive. 'The wind was gusting to 28km so that meant that you had to drive into the corners and really work the straight aways. I had to concentrate on consistant lap times if I wanted to get on the podium.'
Once again Ketith Sulzer (AB) was paired with his friendly rival Clovis Cameron Auger (QC). 'That was the toughest race that I have ever had to do. The wind was a factor but I performed much better here than I did at the Junior qualifier in Fort St. John, BC. Clovis started getting a few strides away from me but I tried as best I could to hang on'. Keith ended up with the silver medal ( 8:07.25) while Clovis won the gold (8:03.63).

Alanna Komisar (Alberta) - Tomorrow are the 100m sprints. Alanna had the fastest qualifying time. She did not medal in the 500 so she will be hungery for a win.
Any of the top nine men 100sprinters (AB,MB,ON,QC,SK) -This one will be very exciting as only 6/100 of a second separate first to ninth. look for a show down as there are men who want medals.

What to Watch For Tomorrow
|
It will be an excitind ay with the men's and women's 100m sprints. It's a skate off and the differential between the firat and ninth qualifying times are very small. It could go to anyone. This is a new event for the CWG.
The team pursuits will be racing for the first time in CWG history. Look for a battle between Ontario and Alberta for the gold and the bronze is up for grabs.

The Duet preliminaries were held this morning at the Canada Games Center. Team Quebec had another solid performance at the pool. Camille Bowness and Marie-Lou Morin, who have both been on the 13-15 National Team, finished first with 80.500. The second Quebec Duet, Jo-Annie Fortin and Stephanie Leclair, had a score of 79.00. Nathalie Lagrange, once again was extremely pleased with the performances of the Quebec athletes. 'Our goal is to win the Canada Games Synchro Competition. I think we have been starting the right way and today's performance is another step towards attaining our goal' says Lagrange.

|
The swimming pool was the place to be tonight at the Canada Games. The team event is one of the best to watch in synchronized swimming and is always well attended. Team Quebec swam on a jungle theme routine and finished with a strong first with 83.500. Lagrange, the Head Coach, was very proud, 'The team event is the priority for Quebec because it includes everyone' she said. Team Ontario was second with 80.167. The Ontario Coaching Staff felt the Team swam very well and in unity. It is a big step forward for them and they now are confident to be podium contenders. Alberta followed with a strong third (78.333). Vanessa Bray said:' the team swam safe because of music problem earlier this week but now we know we can move up the standings'.
