Highlights

Team Québec, the number one seeded team, who up to this point was dominating the tournament lost to Team British-Columbia in today's final. Alot of hopes were put on Mathieu Laforest (QC)double gold medalist. He got the job done by winnning his singles 21-19 and 21-19 against Chris Lee, but things went the other way for Mathieu and his brother Francis. Alvin Lau and Toby Ng of Team British-Columbia defeated them in the final match of the tie. Alice Man (BC)also fought hard to beat Isabelle Lavoie (QC) in 3 close sets. Team British-Columbia proudly brings the gold medal home for the first time in recent badminton history.

Highlights

Team Alberta was going for the gold but they are quite happy with the bronze. They defeated Team Ontario by the score of 3-1 on this final day of the team event. Justin Mullaly from Alberta who won both of his matches was the key player for his team. Justin was a member of the World Junior Team in 2002 and said he's proud to be from Alberta and happy to have helped the team bring a bronze medal home.

Highlights

It came down to the very last game to know who the winner would be between Manitoba and Saskatchewan. David Harrison and Tasia Lightly (MB) defeated Ben Harak and Cassidy Evanson (SK) in that last match. In the final ranking, Manitoba takes the fifth spot and Saskatchewan the sixth.

Gold Medal Game - Team Ontario vs. Team Manitoba

ON 7, MB 5

Highlights

In the gold medal game, Team Ontario ran the Manitoba squad out of rocks to win the the game 7-5 and finish the championships undefeated. In Bathurst in 2003, Ontario won the silver and Quebec the gold. The last time the Ontario team won a gold medal was in 1983.

The squad from Manitoba wins the Silver medal. Bettering the teams performance from 2003 where they finished 11th.

Bronze Medal Game - Team BC vs Team Saskatchewan

Highlights

It came to last to decided the winner of the bronze medal game. With Saskatchewan sitting 1 on the 4 foot, Brosseau, the skip from BC, threw up a guard, forcing the Saskatchewan skip to draw threw a narrow port for the 2nd point to send the game into extra ends. The Saskatchewan front end had to wait for the line before sweeping, it was too late and the rock came up short. British Columbia wins the bronze medal.

In 2003, Manitoba finished 5th and Saskatchewan finished 8th.

Highlights

Jeremy Barron scored a goal and added an assist as Team Newfoundland concluded its tournament on a positive note. Evan Mosher, NL's goaltender, also was strong, stopping 28 of 30 shots.

Highlights

Alberta players and coaches called this their gold medal game. And the players showed that on the ice. Steele Boomer led the way with a goal and two assists and Jordan Eberle scored a pair for Alberta, as it didn't defend its gold medal win of four years ago but did medal, getting the bronze.

Highlights

Kelsey Tessier was buzzing around the net, as he has done all tournament, and it resulted in three goals and three assists for the tournament points leader. Tessier, who plays for the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL, scored 12 goals and added 15 assists for 27 points in the tournament.

Highlights

Ted Stephens pulled an Pavel Datsyuk-like move in the shootout to lift Team Yukon to a 3-2 win over Team Northwest Territories in the 11th/12th place game.

Team QC vs. Team SK

QC 5, SK 2

Highlights

Marc-Olivier Vachon and Dave Labrecque each had a goal and two assists as Quebec finished the tournament with a victory. Quebec fired 80 shots at Saskatchewan goaltender Jeffrey Bosch.

Competition 6

Team ON vs. Team MB

ON 6, MB 4

Highlights

Team Manitoba overcame an early two-goal deficit but Team Ontario concluded its tournament with a strong performance, winning 6-4 and taking the gold medal at the Canada Winter Games. Steve Stamkos scored a goal and added two assists and Michael Del Zott scored the eventual game-winner in the second period.

David Toews of Team Manitoba scored a pair of beautiful goals in the second period to keep his team in the game. Toews showed how well he can shoot the puck with two hard wrist shots at the top corner.

Going into the finals, SK took the lead with both gold and silver while ON, BC and QC all had 569/600 points fighting for bronze. Ontario took bronze by just one tenth of a point. New match record set by Matt McDermont of SK with a very impressive 672.5 pts

Highlights

Previous match record set in 1999 (Marina McKillop 481.7) was toppled today by Rauchelle Johnson of BC who took gold by shooting a 490.1 Going into the finals, SK,ON,QC and MB were separated by 4 points fighting for silver and bronze. Kaitlyn Harvey and Connor Deneka each rose through the finals to take silver and bronze respectively.

Every day of the competition new records were set by very skilled athletes. Todays finals brought a close to the very successful event. Many thanks to the staff of Vanier Catholic High School, the Shooting Federation of Canada, the officials and all of the many volunteers and spectators for making this a very special event.

Highlights

This morning, the solo swimmers swam their last final of the 2007 Canada Winter Games. Camille Bowness from Quebec won her third gold of the competition. After winning in Duet and Team she was first in solo with a final score of 78.702. Ontario followed, with silver, with a solid performance from Samantha Mawhinney (76.007). Saskatchewan's Jessica Guenther took the bronze (75.122) and won the first medal ever for Saskatchewan in the history of synchronized swimming at the Canada Games. Team Quebec could not have hoped for better results. The whole team is very happy and proud to have achieved their goal. Team Ontario was also extremely thrilled of their performance.

Camille Bowness won three golds for Quebec.
