Creative Rationale

The new corporate logo design is created with a multi-purpose application in mind. The main colours involved are red, gold and black. The dynamic nature of the maple leaf has a flame-like quality to it and denotes action and energy. The gold ring encircling the maple leaf is symbolic of the provinces and territories coming together for the Games. The ring is also a sign of continuity, stability and strength and the colour gold is representative of the quest for excellence.

The typeface chosen for the word mark is both elegant and strong. Its clean edges and classic styling allows for legibility as well as effective reproduction and has a classical quality that will endure the test of time.

The leaf in the ring should be strong enough to stand on its own and over time become recognized and associated with the Canada Games.
