This new quarterly e-newsletter, a 40th anniversary celebrations initiative, will allow us to inform subscribers about the Canada Games. How are preparations coming along for the Games in Whitehorse and PEI? Which new sponsor has signed on to support the Canada Games Movement? What are the latest developments coming out of the Council head office? 2007 Canada Winter Games Host Society Hard At Work |
With just about eight months to go before the 2007 Canada Winter Games Opening Ceremony, on February 23, 2007, there is a lot going on in Whitehorse!
Many new staff members were added to the Host Society, who is working tirelessly in order to stage the best Canada Games ever for this 40th anniversary edition.
A great number of sponsors have come on board to support the Canada Games and embark on a great adventure leading up to the Games. In the last few months, Bell Mobility, ATCO Group, Columbia, Holland America, Shoppers Drug Mart, and a consortium of nine Yukon mining companies, joined a long list of existing sponsors of the 2007 Canada Winter Games. 2007 Canada Winter Games to be the most broadcast Games ever |
The 2007 Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse will be the most televised Canada Games ever in a proud 40 year history, with over 130 broadcast hours.
APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television Network), CBC Sports, TSN and RDS (Le Réseau des Sports) will be the official broadcasters of the 2007 Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse February 23 to March 10, 2007. The previously most broadcast Games were in 2003. More... |

The 2005 Canada Games may be over, but their legacy will be long lasting |
The 2005 Canada Summer Games may have ended on August 20, 2005, but it’s not over in Regina! The economic impact of the event was released in mid-June by the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance, and the 2005 Canada Games generated a total estimated economic activity of $101 million in Saskatchewan.
The 2005 Games Host Society announced earlier this spring that the Games were projecting a financial surplus of $3.2 million, which will be used to create the Building Dreams and Champions Legacy Program. More... |
