What is a community Canada Games Day?
A community-based Canada Games Day is a mini sport and physical activity festival that is targeted at youth between the ages of 4-14. Activities are designed to engage participants and may include:
- opportunities to participate in different physical activity and sport programs;
- demonstrations by local athletes;
- celebrity physical activity and sport challenges;
- sport competitions;
- art, dance and musical performances;
- workshops and seminars; and

Successful Canada Games Days will result from broad-based community partnerships involving local sport clubs, municipal recreation programs, schools, service clubs, public health officials, corporate sponsors and others with a stake in promoting physical activity, health and wellness help to work together in promoting successful Canada Games Days.
Why Is This Important?
For our children and youth this is an opportunity to be excited about physical activity and sport, to see heroes in action, and to dream, perhaps of one day participating in the Canada Games!
For communities, this is an exciting opportunity to work together on a manageable, focused event, to build capacity and social capital by strengthening relationships, and to promote the health and wellness of youth.
