Red Deer County Signs on as Diamond Sponsor of 2019 Canada Winter Games

November 4, 2016

Red Deer, AB - At last night’s 2019 Canada Winter Games Local Sponsorship Summit, County of Red Deer confirmed their Diamond Sponsorship of the 2019 Games.

“Red Deer County is thrilled to be a major sponsor of the 2019 Canada Winter Games,” says Red Deer County Mayor Jim Wood. “We believe these games will be a major economic driver for the region and will provide residents with a once-in-a-lifetime experience right in their own backyard. I encourage anyone who is interested to find out how they can become a part of this incredible event.”

This sponsorship of the 2019 Canada Winter Games is the largest sponsorship proposal ever supported by Red Deer County. During the 2019 Games, Canyon Ski Resort, located in Red Deer County, will host freestyle skiing and snowboarding events.

“We are extremely grateful for this generous contribution from Red Deer County,” says Lyn Radford, Board Chair of the 2019 Canada Winter Games. “Their commitment will help us deliver a life-shaping Games experience for all participants and visitors to our region in February 2019. The Canada Games extends beyond the boundaries of the city of Red Deer and this sponsorship is a great example of how all of Alberta can help showcase our province to the nation in 2019.”

Red Deer County’s sponsorship was originally made public during a Red Deer County Council meeting on October 18, 2016.
