The Canada Games Sport for Life Centre is a major resource for, and hub of, athletic training in Winnipeg and Manitoba. The current 84,000 square foot complex houses:
- Sport Manitoba and Partner Sport Organizations
- The Sport Medicine Centre
- The Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame
- The Paul Robson Resource Centre for Leadership and Coaching
- Education and Training Space
The recently announced Qualico Training Centre is a key legacy piece for the 2017 Canada Summer Games and will add 120,000 square feet to the Canada Games Sport for Life Centre. The training centre will feature:
- Training track for sport and community use
- Strength, conditioning and testing areas
- Aerobic training centre
- Plyometric testing area
- Three convertible court spaces
- Areas for individual sports, fitness conditioning, and workshops
The Canada Games Sport for Life Centre is home to over 60 sport organizations, which serve over 190,000 athletes, 100,000 participants and approximately 25,000 volunteers, coaches, and officials. When the training centre is up and running, the combined space and resources offered by the Canada Games Sport for Life Centre will be used by 400,000 people every year on-site and the online resources accessed by thousands more.
Sport Medicine Centre
The Sport Medicine Centre clinicians work directly with coaches, parents, doctors, surgeons, and other team members to ensure patients’ visits are exceptional and their recovery the fastest possible. Patients with sport and non-sport injuries are welcome. Multidisciplinary services include: Sport Medicine Physician, Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, Athletic Therapy, Massage Therapy, Concussion Care, High Performance Assessments, Pedorthist, and Osteopathy.
Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame
Manitoba has a wealth of sport history and achievement that is preserved and showcased at the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame. As a recognized charity, the Hall of Fame honours local sports legends by telling their stories through articles, feature exhibits, and the permanent decades gallery.
Paul Robson Resource Centre for Leadership and Coaching
The Paul Robson Resource Centre for Leadership and Coaching is a library with written and video resources, and a computer lab available for public use and the delivery of sport education programs. The space was developed to encourage efficient use of community resources and to promote cooperation and sharing among the sport community.
