The 2017 Canada Summer Games are expected to bring together 4000 athletes and 20,000 visitors at over 250 events in the largest city to ever host the Games - Winnipeg.
The Games are going to be bigger than they’ve ever been, so it’s only right that we kick off the countdown to the Games in a big way too.
The 2017 Canada Summer Games Countdown to the Games: One Year To Go is the official countdown celebration, and will take place at The Forks Market Plaza from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 28.
And, it’s free!
Ace Burpee will host, DJ Mama Cutsworth will open and close the celebration, and JP Hoe, Leonard Sumner, and Kelly Bado will perform live on stage. You will also be able to find the Dirty Catfish Brass Band roaming The Forks’ grounds as they perform their get-up-and-get-groovin’ tunes.
Fourteen of the Games’ 16 sports will have activities set up by local sport organizations including Manitoba Soccer Association, Golf Manitoba, Baseball Manitoba, and the Winnipeg Rowing Club, so put your inner athlete to the test!
The 2017 Canada Summer Games will even have its merchandise tent set up so can buy our 2017 Canada Summer Games gear.
Niibin, the Games’ Mascot, will also be around spreading the spirit of the Games. Watch how excited Niibin is for the Games in the videos below. And yes, Niibin will pose for selfies. Come celebrate with us and show the rest of Canada why the Games will make next summer the hottest summer in half a century.
