Community Relations

Assists with the Mascot program and Torch Relay. Work will start prior to the Games. Also conducts Games-time research.

 

Mascot Program

Driver

Duties: Responsible for the transportation of the mascot animators and handlers to all Games-time appearances and the maintenance of the RV during games time.   

Skills: Driver’s License, punctual

Handler

Duties:Travels with the mascot animator to predetermined appearances leading up to and during the Games.  The main role for a handler is to support and protect the Mascot while informing the public about the Games.

Skills: Driver’s License, punctual, friendly, outgoing, good communication skills, energetic

Animator

Duties: Wears the mascot costume and embodies the mascot character while interacting with the public.

Skills: Can lift 25 pounds and stand for a long period of time, energetic, outgoing, and between 5’4 and 5’8 in height.

Supervisor

Duties: Coordinates mascot appearances, ensuring animators, handlers, and drivers get where they need to be and have space to change

Skills: Supervisory experience, good communication skills

 

Torch Relay

Crew

Duties: Accompanies the Torch bearer and the flame throughout the Relay to ensure that they are safe.

Skills: Punctual, dependable, friendly, good communication skills

Supervisor

Duties: Oversees all aspects of the Torch Relay, including relay, event setup and takedown, and keeps everyone on schedule.

Skills: Driver’s license, Supervisory experience, punctual, energetic

 

Research

Crew 

Duties:  Conduct surveys with spectators/visitors and Games client groups. Collect personal information for follow-up surveys by a contracted research firm.

Supervisor

Duties: Oversee a team collecting surveys from spectators/visitors and Games client groups at public Games venues. Collect personal information for follow-up surveys by a contracted research firm. Supervisory experience an asset.

Skills: Fluent in English
