The Red River Exhibition Park will host the criterium cycling event at the 2017 Canada Summer Games. The Park will provide a flat but challenging course. The race style and tactics of a criterium are much different from other road racing events: tight corners, speed, strategy, attacks, breakaways, and a sprint finish make it a very exciting race.
The Red River Exhibition Park is multi-use facility offering many temporary assets to allow all the services and requirements of a cycling event. It offers tremendous sightlines and access for spectators to this non-ticketed event. The Park was built as a multi-purpose facility in 1997 on 90 acres leaving almost 400 acres for future growth and expansion. Red River Exhibition Park was developed to accommodate festivals, fairs and special events and has been designed with numerous features and structures that allow for flexibility in planning and layout while providing a safe, clean and spectator-friendly environment.
