Transportation

Prior, during and post Games assists in commissioning, maintaining and decommissioning fleet vehicles. Also involves driving and dispatching of fleet vehicles and assists in the management of transportation areas at venues at Games time.

 

Motor pool

Drivers

Duties: Responsible for driving a Host Society motor pool vehicle and transporting accredited Games participants to and from official games locations and functions.

Skills: Must have a valid Manitoba Driver's License, a clean Drivers Abstract and be familiar with Winnipeg roads. Good communication skills and a pleasant manner. Beneficial to have knowledge of Winnipeg, its landmarks and its history.

Dispatchers

Duties: Responsible for Games time dispatch of approximately 60 motor pool vehicles for all accredited Games clients - this includes daily management of pre-booked vehicles, scheduled vehicles and on demand vehicles as well as the associated drivers.

Skills: Dispatch or fleet management experience essential - ability to coordinate, multi-task and stay calm in busy / stressful situations. Excellent knowledge of Winnipeg roads and strong interpersonal skills. Very good computer skills, specifically excel, required.

Crew

Duties: Responsible for the pre-games commissioning (June 2017) and post-games decommissioning (late Aug / early Sept 2017) of all motor pool vehicles. At Games-time, the crew is responsible for the day to day cleaning and fuelling of the motor-pool as well as tracking any damages.

Skills: Willingness to commit to the games for longer than other positions. Organized and able to be active. Have a good understanding of vehicle types and enjoy working in a team environment.

Medium physical activity.

Supervisor

Duties: Responsible for supervising the pre-games commissioning (June 2017) and post-games decommissioning (late Aug / early Sept 2017) of all motor pool vehicles. At Games-time, responsible for leading the crew responsible for the day-to-day cleaning and fuelling of the motor-pool. Responsible for maintaining a record and preparing all required documents in relation to damage claims

Skills: Willingness to commit to the games for longer than other positions. Well-organized and able to be active. Have an excellent understanding of vehicle types and enjoy leading a team.

Medium physical activity.

 

At Venues

Attendants

Duties: Responsible for the games-time on-the-ground management of transportation spaces at venues - i.e. load zones, parking, permit check points.

Skills: Good interpersonal skills, organized and able to multi-task. Previous transportation experience an asset but not required.

Arrival and Departure Crew

Duties: Responsible for the games-time on-the-ground management of transportation spaces at the Airport - i.e. load zones, bus staging, in-airport assistance.

Skills: Good interpersonal skills, organized and able to multi-task. Previous transportation experience an asset but not required. Bilingual an asset.

Supervisor

Duties: Responsible for overseeing a group of transportation crew or a specific system at a venue (bus, motor pool, parking, permitting)

Skills:  Good interpersonal skills, organized and able to multi-task. Previous transportation experience an asset.
