Village Operations

Assists in an assortment of roles at the Athlete Villages in the areas of Accommodations, Athlete Services, Entertainment and Village Food & Beverage Services.

 

Accomodations

Attendant

Duties: Understand the athlete village plan with a focus on the accommodations section.  Work with other volunteers and various client groups in close proximity to residence areas.  Assist client groups with housekeeping, janitorial and linen related situations. Ensure residence access rules/policies are adhered to during the day.  

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and within a team, take direction and make decisions within defined parameters.  
  • Liaise with venue and host society staff to address situations that arise for residences.
  • Basic Computer Skills

Low/Moderate Physical Activity.

Supervisor

Duties: Assist in the delivery of the athlete village services and supervise accommodation attendants.  Work with other volunteers and staff from other functions and work independently.  Assist with the arrivals and departures, as well as turn-around day operations related to accommodations, for all games participants

Skills:

  • Hospitality industry or previous Games accommodations experience essential, multi or single sport competition/games experience an asset.
  • Have strong organizational skills and strong relationship management skills and an understanding of the elements required to deliver effective accommodations planning and operations
  • Intermediate Computer Skills

Moderate Physical Activity.

Athlete Services

Attendant

Duties: Delivering all required athlete services elements, including but not limited to; information centre, secure storage, quiet lounges outside of accommodations areas, computer Lounge / social media hubs, laundry facilities, etc. Using creativity to come up with relevant and innovative athlete services to enhance the overall athlete experience

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and within a team, take direction and make decisions within defined parameters.  
  • Knowledge and understanding of businesses and services in and around the village.  
  • Verbal communication skills required and comfortable working with general public
  • Basic Computer Skills

Low physical activity.

Supervisor

Entertainment

Attendant

Duties: Understanding and adhering to the Canada Games Council standards in relation to athlete village entertainment. Reviewing and understanding the Athlete Villages Plans and work with the Villages Teams in delivering the athlete entertainment program

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and within a team, take direction and make decisions within defined parameters.
  • Experience and understanding of entertainment services.  
  • Verbal communication skills required and comfortable working with general public and entertainers.
  • Basic Computer Skills

Moderate physical activity.

Supervisor

Duties: Reviewing, understanding and adhering to the Canada Games Council standards in relation to athlete village entertainment. Reviewing and understanding the Athlete Villages Plans and work with the Village Team in determining, developing and delivering the athlete entertainment program.

Skills:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the entertainment industry or equivalent.
  • Have strong organizational skills, supervisory experience and an understanding of the elements required to deliver an effective entertainment program.
  • Basic/Intermediate Computer Skills

High physical activity.

Operations Centre

Attendant

Duties: Understand the athlete village plan with a focus on the administration function in an office setting.  Work with other volunteers and various function staff.  Assist function staff and volunteers with schedules, information distribution and filing.  

Skills:

  • Ability to work with various office equipment, filing and experience working with volunteers and staff.  
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and understanding of all aspects of the Athlete Village.
  • Intermediate Computer Skills

Low physical activity.

Supervisor

Duties: Understand the athlete village plan with a focus on the administration function in an office setting.  Understanding of other functional areas outside of the Athlete Village.  Experience in working with and supervising volunteers and assisting function staff with schedules, information distribution and filing.  

Skills:

  • Ability to work with various office equipment, computer programs, filing and supervising volunteers and staff.  
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and understanding of all aspects of the Athlete Village.  
  • Knowledge of employee and volunteer scheduling and responding to issues arising in the office.
  • Intermediate Computer Skills

Medium/High physical activity.
