Canada Games Days

Canada Games Days… it’s about sport, friendship and fun!

Canada Games Days offers children across Canada a fun and educational experience that mirrors the excitement of the real Canada Games. The Games, which are held every two years, are Canada’s largest multi-sport event. These Games are the stepping-stone for Canada’s next generation of professional, international, and Olympic athletes, and participating in Canada Games Day allows our nation’s children to fully embrace the Canada Games Spirit in a fun and educational manner.

Officially launching on November 13, 2015, the Catch the Spirit educational resource was designed for teachers by teachers, and engages students from kindergarten to grade 8 using five overarching themes:

  • Unifying Canada
  • Healthy Living and Sport
  • Official Languages
  • Arts and Culture
  • Goals and Leadership

This resource can be used by individual teachers or adopted school-wide. Through all five lessons, students will learn about the history and significance of the Canada Games in amateur sport and the elements that make the Canada Games unique: arts and culture, Official Languages and the integration of healthy living and sport in everyday life.
