Road Cycling has been featured on every Canada Summer Games sport program since the inaugural Summer Games in 1969.
Similarly, Cycling is one of the few sports to have always been featured on the Olympic program. The first road event for cycling in Olympic history took place in 1896 on the marathon route at the first Games of the modern era in Athens. Canada’s first medal was won in Los Angeles in 1984 when Steve Bauer captured silver in the men’s road race.
