Media Advisory: Official Launch of 2029 Canada Games Bid Process in New Brunswick

(Fredericton, N.B.) The Government of New Brunswick and the Canada Games Council invite media to attend the official launch of the 2029 Canada Summer Games bid process. The announcement will take place on January 17, 2024 at 11 a.m. (AT) at the Fredericton Convention Centre.

This event will publicly launch the competitive bid process for the municipalities of Fredericton, Moncton and Saint John to determine which city will host the 2029 Canada Summer Games.

2029 Canada Summer Games Bid Launch

Date: January 17, 2024
Time: 11 a.m. AT (Media should arrive at 10:30 a.m. AT to set up.)
Location: Fredericton Convention Centre (Nashwaaksis Room) – 670 Queen Street, Fredericton, NB E3B 1C2

Dignitaries will include:
- Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Culture Tammy Scott-Wallace, Government of New Brunswick
- Board Director and 2029 Bid Evaluation Committee Chair Catherine Gosselin-Després, Canada Games Council
- Vivian Kutnowski, 2022 Canada Games Bronze Medallist in Wrestling for Team New Brunswick

About the Canada Games Council

The Canada Games Council, a private, non-profit organization, is the governing body for the Canada Games. Held once every two years, alternating between winter and summer, the Canada Games represent the highest level of national competition for up and coming Canadian athletes. The Games have been hosted in every province at least once since their inception in Quebec City during Canada’s Centennial in 1967. The Games are proud of their contribution to Canada’s sport development system, in addition to their lasting legacy of sport facilities, community pride and national unity. The organization of the Canada Games is made possible through the tireless dedication of local Host Societies and the contribution and support of the federal, provincial/territorial and host municipal governments.
