Indoor volleyball has been on the Canada Games program since the very first Canada Games in 1967 in Quebec City, QC, and is one of the few sports that has been featured on both Winter and Summer Games programs. Indoor volleyball was on the Winter program from 1969-1987, and transitioned to the Summer program at the 1985 Games in Saint John, NB.
Indoor volleyball made its Olympic debut in 1964. Canada has competed in the men’s Olympic volleyball tournament at four Games, posting its best result at Los Angeles 1984 with a fourth-place finish. The Canadian women’s team has competed in three Olympic tournaments, most recently at Atlanta 1996 after finishing eighth at Montreal 1976 and Los Angeles 1984.
