Wheelchair basketball has been on the Canada Winter Games program since 1995 in Grande Prairie, AB. The competition is a mixed-gender event and is open to athletes with physical disabilities as well as able-bodied athletes.
Men’s wheelchair basketball has been featured at every Paralympic Games since 1960, and a women’s event was introduced in 1968. Canada’s most recent podium finish was a gold medal in the men’s event at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
