The Canada Games Council (CGC) is seeking energetic, passionate and enthusiastic individuals to serve on its Board of Directors. We are looking for visionary leaders dedicated to growing the Canada Games Movement and delivering the CGC’s 2022-2027 Strategic Plan.

The Canada Games are truly unique, sparking greatness in the country’s brightest young talent. The Games are the largest amateur multi-sport event in the country and one of the most inclusive events in the world. They bring together more than 2,500 able-bodied athletes and athletes with physical and intellectual disabilities to represent their provinces and territories at one competition. Alternating between winter and summer, the Games span more than 37 different sports to showcase the very best in Canadian sport and spirit.

Targeted Experience
The CGC is seeking individuals who bring a mix of leadership expertise and diverse lived experiences to the CGC Board of Directors. To deliver CGC’s 2022 - 2027 Strategic Plan and accelerate the evolution of the Canada Games Movement, the CGC is seeking expertise in the following areas:
- Revenue Generation & Philanthropy
- Sport Technical & NSO Governance
- Government Relations & Advocacy
- Digital Innovation & Security
- Strategic Communications
Nominations Process
The Nominations Committee will review and assess all nominations to ensure alignment with the strategic priorities as outlined in the Director’s Brief and Nominations Form.
In addition, the Committee will seek candidates who enhance the Board’s collective strength through a diverse blend of skills, experience and diverse lived experiences, including a commitment to linguistic duality and geographic representation.
The Committee will shortlist and interview candidates to ensure a strong cultural fit and to confirm how their competencies complement the current Board.
Directors will be elected by CGC Members in strict accordance with the organization’s Bylaws and Nominations & Elections Policy and Procedures.
Elections will be conducted during the Annual General Meeting on September 24, 2026. The Membership will vote up to eight (8) volunteer Director positions: four (4) new Directors and four (4) Directors seeking re-election.
In addition to filling current vacancies, the Nominations Committee will utilize this process to identify qualified candidates for future CGC Standing & Operational Committee opportunities.
