At the Canada Games Council, we’re proud of the role the Canada Games play in long term athlete development, sparking greatness along the high performance pathway and fuelling success on the world stage. Here’s just a sample of recent alumni activity:

🏃🏽 In Athletics, Canada Games alumni are among the big names and newcomers who competed at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, including Andre de Grasse (2013), Marco Arop (2017), and Savannah Sutherland (2022).

🚲 Multi-sport athlete and Paralympian Mel Pemble (2015) led dozens of former Canada Games athletes at the 2023 Cycling World Championships in Glasgow and across Scotland.

🛶 Former Canada Games athletes, including Olympic bronze medalist Katie Vincent (2013), made up the majority of Team Canada at the 2023 Canoe and Para Canoe World Championships in Duisburg, Germany.

🏹 Crispin Duenas (2011) and Virginie Chénier (2003) were among Canadians competing at the 2023 World Archery Championships in Berlin, Germany.

⛵ Clara Gravely (2017), Emily Bugeja (2017), and Ryan Wood (2013) were in The Hague, Netherlands to represent Team Canada at the 2023 Sailing World Championships.

🏸 Seven Canada Games alumni competed at the Badminton World Championships 2023, led by Michelle Li (2011) and Ty Lindeman (2015) during their time in Copenhagen, Denmark.

🥅 In her Quebec Major Junior Hockey League debut, goalie Rhyah Stewart (2023) stopped all 24 shots for the Cape Breton Eagles in preseason action.
