The Canada Games Council, entrusted by Federal-Provincial/Territorial Partners as Franchise-Holder of the Canada Games, is committed to enduring legacies of the Canada Games, that strengthen sport and athletic development, opportunity, and protect the image of sport and the Canada Games Brand.

The Canada Games Council will be investigating the proposed name change of the 2011 Canada Winter Games Legacy Venue, the Canada Games Centre, with the Halifax Regional Municipality. As outlined in a letter from the Mayor of the Halifax Regional Municipality to the CGC in 2009, HRM warmly committed to maintain the Canada Games Centre as the facility name, in perpetuity.
