Canada Games House Welcomes Athletes and Families at PEI 2023 Canada Winter Games

Charlottetown, PE – With the PEI 2023 Canada Winter Games officially underway, the Canada Games Council (CGC) and the 2023 Host Society are thrilled to celebrate the nation’s top young athletes and their families and friends with the launch of Canada Games House, presented by Canadian Tire.

“We are so proud to unveil Canada Games House and provide a home away from home where Canadian athletes and their families can connect at the Canada Games,” said CGC President and CEO Kelly-Ann Paul. “The true legacy of the Games goes well beyond the field of play. With the collaboration of the 2023 Host Society, we are delighted to create a welcoming and inclusive space to bring the Canada Games family together in PEI. Thank you to our partner Canadian Tire for their commitment to making life in Canada better with their support of Canada Games athletes and their family and friends.”

Located within the stunning Confederation Centre for the Arts in downtown Charlottetown, Canada Games House is a new, dedicated venue for athletes, friends, families, teams and guests to gather, celebrate, watch and relax during the Canada Games.

“We’re so pleased to be welcoming the country to PEI for the Canada Winter Games,” said the Landry family. “To have a dedicated place to bond at Canada Games House with other families and friends of athletes from across Canada adds something extra special to the experience of supporting Elliot in his fencing competition.”

“It’s so exciting to be able to celebrate the next generation of Canadian athletes and their families,” said Leslie Bradshaw, Manager of Sport Partnerships at Canadian Tire Corporation. “No athlete gets to the Games by themselves, so celebrating and honouring the friends and family of these athletes is important to us, and to be able to provide them with this dedicated space at Canada Games House. The ups and downs of an athlete’s journey has brought them to this point and their family has been behind them the entire way.”

From a gaming area and livestream zone, to theme days, team events, Games memorabilia and appearances by special guests, there’s something for everyone at Canada Games House over the two weeks of the Games.

“With the support of Canadian Tire, we are proud to host the first-ever Canada Games House in beautiful Prince Edward Island, creating a welcoming space for athletes, teams, friends, and families to come together and celebrate the power of sport,” said Wayne Carew, Chair, PEI 2023 Canada Games Host Society.

As a private venue, guests must have a Games accreditation or an Athlete Family and Friends pass to access Canada Games House. For more information, visit .2023canadagames.ca/venues/canada-games-house
